SCOPE OF WORK

The objective of the project was the comprehensive modernization and expansion of an existing ammonia cooling plant operating in an industrial facility. The scope included engineering documentation, control cabinet prefabrication, electrical installation works, and complete programming of the control system. The project was carried out in cooperation with a company specializing in industrial cooling technology.

Due to the installation’s strategic importance for the entire facility, a high-availability, redundant PLC system based on ControlLogix was implemented, including dual power-supply redundancy. Network communication was built using the PRP standard, ensuring continuous operation even in the event of a failure of one communication channel.

The system was distributed using POINT I/O modules, and the drives are controlled via PowerFlex 755TL variable frequency drives (VFDs). The operator interface was implemented in FactoryTalk View SE 13, providing full process visualization and control.

As part of the project, full integration with the existing pumping station was completed, ensuring consistent data, communication, and control logic between the new system and the existing infrastructure. An advanced pump and compressor management and sequencing system was also implemented, enabling optimized equipment operation, reduced energy consumption, and extended system service life.
